jim newell

Jim Newell is a Managing Partner of Houston Ventures. He previously was a Partner with Altira Group, LLC from 2000 to 2010. From 1994 to 2000, he was a Partner in Aspect Management Corporation making venture investments in upstream oil and gas projects and in early-stage oil and gas technology companies. From 1976 through 1994, Jim was a financial executive in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Newell has significant domain expertise in energy, finance, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, software development, manufacturing, and banking and has served on the boards of more than 20 venture-backed portfolio companies. Jim graduated Summa Cum Laude from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, and is a CPA in Colorado.
